As beauty professionals, we take care of others for a living. We are responsible for setting up our salons to be welcoming, inviting, creative, and pampering. While things are uncertain right now, please allow time to treat yourself by devoting self-care moments at home. As creative individuals, you can make your own spa day as elaborate or as simple as you wish. Here are some ideas to get you started:
First, you’ll need: a DO NOT DISTURB sign and leave your phone on silent and out of your spa space. Grab the book or stack of magazines that you’ve been waiting to read.
Think about what you need to be relaxed. Candles and/or a diffuser, body scrub. face mask, hair mask, bath salts, a robe, etc. Check what you have on hand, what you want to make on your own, or what you should buy online and set a spa date with yourself!
Set the mood. Put on calming music and create the perfect scent while you get things ready. Lavender and eucalyptus are go-to spa scents but get creative! Rose, sandalwood, and bergamot are also excellent scents for a diffuser or to make your own candles.
Spa Water and hot tea. While alcohol seems like the perfect way to relax at this moment, try to allow yourself only infused water with herbs and fruit, like mint & strawberries, citrus, or cucumbers. A relaxing cup of tea has also been proven to help reduce stress.
Face steam & mask. Create your own or purchase the products to give yourself a mini-facial treatment. Allow the mask to do its job while you are soaking or lounging with your hair treatment.
Hair Treatment. How often do you really have time to give one to yourself? After you apply a hair mask (some of our favorite products are listed below), place your hair in a plastic cap and a towel then grab your magazine or book and relax.
