NAHA Haircutter of the Year Looks by Stephen Moody

Stephens Cleanse and Condition Selection
All three models were cleansed and conditioned with Twisted Elastic Curl Shampoo and Twisted Elastic Curl Conditioner.

Cut and Style
- Applied Sebastian Potion 9 Lite and Twisted Curl Lifter Foam and pulled through to hair
- Blow-dried with a GHD dryer and diffuser, lifting the hair out with an afro pick and cut the shape freehand
- Finished with Dark Oil Silkening Mist
PRO TIP: Stand back and constantly assess the shape with the mirror
Color
- Foils: BlondorPlex Multi Blonde Dust-Free Powder Lightener + Welloxon Perfect Crème Developer 20 Volume (6%)
- Gloss: 1 part Koleston Perfect 8/97 Light Blonde/Cendre Brown Permanent+ 1 part Welloxon Perfect Crème Developer Pastel / 6 Volume (1.9%)
- Treatment: Color Post Treatment
- The best results are achieved when the shape is put into the hair before color when working with short hair
- Working with the shape of the haircut, use highlight focal areas of the shape
- Blondor Plex was used in a foil to create lightened ends. A gentle back comb in the area being sliced helped to create a cushion at the root area to achieve a shadowed root.
- A Koleston Perfect glossing service was used to give richness to the tone
Cut and Style
- Applied Sebastian Potion 9 Lite and Twisted Curl Lifter Foam sectioned to a low left side parting and graduated the hair asymmetrically
- Blow-dried with a GHD blow-dryer and diffuser, compacting the curls with a hairnet
- Pulled the hair out and expanded using a mirror
- Finished with Dark Oil Silkening Mist
PRO TIP: Cut the hair in the fingers using lots of tension and incremental elevation
Color
- 30g Magma by Blondor /36 + 2g Koleston Perfect 0/65 Violet Red-Violet Permanent + Blondor FreeLights Developer 40 Volume (12%)
- This color was achieved by hand painting the hair, after mixing the Magma combined with the freelights developer, use the color brush to paint your hands (make sure to wear gloves)
- After having a good amount of saturation on your gloves, use a “scrunching” action to apply the color to the hair directly with your hands
- You will achieve different dimension of color based on the amount of saturation
Cut and Style
- Applied Sebastian Potion 9 Lite and Twisted Curl Lifter Foam
- graduated the hair by using tension and elevation
- Blow-dried with GHD bow-dryer and diffuser
- Pull the hair out and expand using a mirror, refined with freehand cutting.
- Finished with Dark Oil Silkening Mist
PRO TIP: Cut the hair very wet, moving around the head to create a round shape
Color
- Foils – Blondor Multi Blonde Hair Lightener Powder + Welloxon Perfect Crème Developer 20 Volume (6%)
- Base – 30g Koleston Perfect 4/71 Medium Brown/Brown Ash Permanent + 30g Koleston Perfect 4/0 Medium Brown/Natural Permanent + 60g Welloxon Perfect Crème Developer 20 Volume (6%)
- Toner – Koleston Perfect 9/16 Very Light Blonde/Ash Violet Permanent + Color Touch Developer Emulsion 13 Volume (4%)
- Blondor Multi Blonde Hair Lightener Powder was used in a foil to create lightened ends
- A gentle backcomb in the area being sliced helped create a cushion at the root area to achieve a shadowed root
- After the hair was lifted to the desired level a Koleston Perfect base and glossing service was used to give richness to the tone
