What do you love about the pro beauty industry?
I love how this industry is so versatile and accommodating. It’s challenging to get bored because there is always something to inspire you and get your hands into.
What is the most meaningful part of your role as a Black artist in beauty?
Being able to apply what I learned growing up and share it with my fellow stylists. Especially the young or new stylist who hasn’t had many successful black stylists to learn from and be inspired by. I also love teaching the importance of being about your BUSINESS and having a certain level of professionalism when working with clientele and building a brand.
What is a fun fact about you?
I am a hippie at heart! Lol, I hate wearing clothes for long periods, I also dislike seeing trees chopped down and nature destroyed. I could bathe in the sun and nature all day. If I weren’t a hairdresser, I would be a gardener or florist and own a plant nursery/shop.
Who is someone that inspires you most?
My sister, I love her. She’s the queen of the pep talk
What is your favorite: Wella, Nioxin, OPI, ghd, Clairol, Color Charm, Kadus, or Sebastian Product, and why?
Sebastian shaper! It can be used in many ways, such as a thermal protectant when blowdrying, a finishing spray, and a working spray. She’s that girl!
Do you have any tips for those who are uncomfortable servicing textured hair?
Get out of your head! Go back to the basics and apply them. Focus on what kind of TEXTURE of hair they have, not what TYPE. The feel of the fabric and how to properly care for it is what matters! Remember that
