What do you love about the pro beauty industry?
I love that it is forever changing and that there is inspiration everywhere we look. I love seeing the next generation of stylists come out of beauty school ready to grow and learn, I love being a mentor and educator!
What is the most meaningful part of your role as a Black artist in beauty?
Working as a Black hair stylist does not limit me to only one texture of hair. I feel if you can do textured hair well you can do all types of hair. At the end of the day, hair is hair in all shapes and forms. I love when guest walks out of my salon feeling good, I am blessed to have learned the art of working with textured hair.
What is fun fact about you?
I have run 13 full Marathons; I went sky diving last year and loved it. This year I am learning to play the guitar.
Who is someone that inspires you most?
Charlize Theron #amazing
What is your favorite Wella, Nioxin, OPI, ghd, Clairol, Color Charm, Kadus or Sebastian product and why?
Besides the whole Wella color line, I absolutely love Illumina. I love how Illuminous the line is and it is so versatile, you can cover grey, you can tone and still be left with this beautiful radiant color. I especially love the new tones such as 10/81, 9/19, 8/93, 9/95.
Do you have any tips for those who are uncomfortable servicing textured hair?
Attend as many classes as you can! Textured hair is also very fragile and if you make mistakes the hair could melt off.
