Wella Design Team Artist Nicole Revish shows us how SHINEFINITY is the perfect match for coloring wigs and hairpieces. To complete her color transformation on a lace front wig, Nikole also uses ILLUMINA Color and Blondorplex. Nicole loves SHINEFINITY , a zero lift demi-permanent color glaze because it’s full of shade options and ideal for clients or a wig or hairpieces that are blonde, brunette, or red. She also mentions that with SHINEFINITY , the condition of the hair afterward feels better than it did before! When breaking down her process, Nicole mentions that it’s vital to have a stable foundation when working on a wig of any kind. She begins by securing the wig with T pins. Nicole also mentions that it’s imperative to work with a clean canvas when coloring wigs and weaves. As soon as Nicole has a wig in her possession, she cleans it with a great shampoo before coloring. Nicole also recommends letting the hair dry completely before beginning a color application. She also loves to let the hair dry overnight as opposed to giving it direct heat from a blow dryer. Air drying allows you to preserve the texture and ensure that you haven’t damaged the cuticle.
BASE COLOR
Nicole explains that saturation is so important stylists should make sure that they’re getting color through every section of the hair. This gives you the most flawless result. She surprisingly uses 40 volume as her developer with ILLUMINA because she’s working on a wig, as it’s not a live head of hair, so maximum lift is important. Letting each section fully develop until the end of processing time allows Nicole to make sure that she has a beautiful base color as a backdrop for her balayage.
BALAYAGE
Nicole uses BLONDORPLEX with 20 volume for the balayage because she only wants to lift to a level 9. The result is a peachy soft coppery glow of a highlight against that lovely chocolaty backdrop created with the base color.
Before applying a SHINEFINITY glaze, it’s essential to shampoo and prepare the hair. Nicole cleansed with ColorMotion+ Shampoo followed up with color motion post color treatment which allows her to have a great canvas to work with before applying SHINEFINITY glaze. Nicole chose SHINEFINITY glaze 07/34 because she loves the coppery peachy tone against the mahogany chocolate base. Nicole mentions why she enjoys working with SHINEFINITY glaze verse a traditional gloss stating SHINEFINITY is best because it’s formulated with no alcohol, no ammonia, no silicones, and no parabens providing a clean formula! SHINEFINITY is also a long-lasting color glaze true-to-tone with incredible shine.
