The extra large one is great for doing root shadows & pull thru because you can scoop up more product & cover more ground 2. The medium size brush is great for Root touch ups (especially Color Touch ones), pull through (for more detail) & for larger sections of balayage (it’s light &feathered at the bristles) 3.
